PRODUCING A COMMERCIAL SPOT DURING A PANDEMIC

The Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP) contacted us last summer, right in the midst of the pandemic. F4CP was looking for a video marketing agency to produce their new video commercial. Their original idea for the video featured multiple actors at many different locations. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the script was almost impossible to shoot at the time. However, we suggested a doable – and a much less expensive – alternative: using stock footage. Instead of hiring a number of actors and getting the whole team to different locations – all that with the rigid Covid-19 safety precautions in mind, we could use stock footage which would match the original shots. There are many great websites out there which provide a wide array of whatever footage one might think of. F4CP loved the idea, and we were on!

Following the original F4CP script, we scouted the stock footage websites, and offered F4CP about what we thought were five best options for each shot in the original script. F4CP is based out of California, so all of the communication and work was done remotely, via phone calls and emails. The remote communication worked just fine working on this stock footage commercial. We would email F4CP a couple of links with their options, they would choose their favorites, and so on.

When suggesting the best footage, we had to keep in mind to choose footage that used similar camera movement, color and resolution – assuring the final video looked like all of the footage was shot specifically for this one particular commercial. After a few days of narrowing down the right stock footage, we edited it all together in one piece.

Next, we let F4CP choose from a variety of voiceover artists (also found remotely / online). We sent the chosen artist her lines, she recorded her narration remotely, and uploaded it for us to use. As the very last step, we added all of the narration in the video.

F4CP was very happy with their new video commercial. The process of producing the video out of stock footage turned out to be much easier, quicker and cheaper than a regular in-person shoot would have been. Plus, we didn’t have to worry about Covid-19 restrictions because literally all of the communication and work was done remotely. Being how challenging life and work was for many of us at the time, this video commercial production process was a great success!
